Sephora Columbus Circle

As VIBs, Eden and I were invited to a grand opening party at Sephora's new Columbus Circle location last night.  The new store is located in The Shops at Columbus Circle, a fancy mall in uptown Manhattan.  It proved to be the perfect place to party, as we had a fun night filled with shopping, drinks, and meeting beauty brand founders!  We played a game where we had to collect stamps from each of the founders to win a prize, a limited edition Sephora Columbus Circle tote filled with goodies!

We met Jerrod Blandino of Too Faced, one of my favorite Sephora brands~

We also met Maureen Kelly of Tarte, who is absolutely stunning in real life.  We got to try out some of Tarte's lipsticks and blushes!  I'm in love with "Fierce", a perfect fiery red lipstick.

My favorite person of the night was Ole Henriksen, of his namesake skincare brand.  He was super friendly, fun, and generous too!  He gave everyone a gift bag of his own, packed with awesome skincare goodies.  We played beauty truth-or-dare with him, and talked about how wonderful NYC is.

Overall it was a super fun night!  Major thanks to Sephora, and the founders of Ole Henriksen, Too Faced, Tarte, Caudalie, and Glo for pampering us and showering us with gifts!

Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Primer

It's almost 5PM already but I still have a busy evening ahead of me!  Here's a quick Sephora sample product review before I head out~ how appropriate, as I'll be attending a Sephora store opening party at Columbus Circle tonight!  It should be super fun, and I'm expecting lots of goodies!  I'll be sure to tell you all about it, until then check out my review...

Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Primer

"This clinically proven, universally nude Pomegranate Mattifying Primer blends to an invisible matte finish while minimizing the appearance of pores, balancing skin tone and texture, and preparing skin for smooth makeup application and long-lasting wear."

This primer starts off creamy then dries to a smooth & powdery finish, instantly improving skin tone and creating a matte base for makeup.   It really takes hold of makeup and keeps it in place.  It also helps with covering redness & dark spots.  Pores are noticeably diminished in appearance without feeling clogged.  Skin feels super soft.

After six hours of using this primer, my skin was looking really oily.  I think it ended up looking more oily with the primer, than if I hadn't been using any at all...which is pretty lame and totally defeats the purpose of using a primer!

Overall:  3/5

I'm beginning to think that I will never find a primer for me!  This particular primer is no good for people like me who suffer from oily skin.  However, I think this would be excellent for people with dry skin!

Even though I'm not doing much this summer, it's been pretty great!  I've been filling my time with sun, sand, burritos, ice cream, frozen yogurt, and lots of time with Mike.  He's been teaching me to use a DSLR camera.  We just bought a Sony A77, I can't wait to go out and start shooting with it!

Aakasha designer Milena sent me one of her adorable hand painted heart tanks.  I don't usually wear tight-fitting tops like this, but there's something about the color & design of this one that's just too cute!  I really love it.  Milena is a super sweet girl from Sofia, Bulgaria who is absolutely delightful to talk to.  She has turned her childhood hobbies of crafting and drawing into something really wonderful!

I can't help but smile when wearing this tank, because I know that it was made with lots of love and care~

So excited for a day off from work tomorrow!  We're having a party for my grandma's 90th birthday (her birthday is July 5th) ...but shhhh, it's a surprise!  I can't wait to celebrate with her.  I wish you all a fun & wonderful holiday, don't stay out in the sun too long, stay hydrated, and be safe!

What to Wear on the 4th of July

The 4th of July is one of my favorite days of the summer.  Friends, family, good food, drinks, fireworks, and partying late into the night...that's pretty much what summer is all about, isn't it?

I often spend our Independence Day at my boyfriend's house, where his family has a huge party every year.  Even though we're just hanging out in the backyard, kids are throwing water balloons, and the temperature is sky rocketing, I really like to dress up!  It varies depending on the trends of the season, but I always wear our country's colors in celebration of the holiday.

American Wild Child

Happy July!  This summer is flying by~ in a few days we'll be celebrating the biggest holiday of summer here in the USA.  After seeing an awesome fireworks display last night I'm getting in the mood with LF Stores' newest look book, "American Wild Child" which features some stellar 4th of July looks worn by gorgeous model Beth Whitson.
