Roshambo

After being treated to an unforgettable birthday (an overnight trip in upstate New York) and a romantic anniversary (7 years!) by my amazing boyfriend, I'm definitely feeling the love.  With Valentine's Day approaching, I want to bask in this romantic feeling and milk it for all it's worth!

I want to start off by sharing Free People's first-ever short film, "Roshambo".  It's very fun, cute, and really embodies the connection & closeness you feel with that special someone.  It's a quintessential NYC love story!



I love that brands are coming out and making video lookbooks recently.  Free People took it one step further by making what is going to be a series of short films.  As a lover of fashion and cinema, this is so exciting!  I really appreciate fashion in films and I think it's a brilliant way to add dimension to a story.  It's so interesting and captivating to see a story told through great styling in a motion picture.

I can't wait to see what Free People has in store for the next film, and I'm really hopeful that more brands will start following suit!

What to Wear to a Holiday Party

Working in retail has definitely forced me into a holiday mood this year.  Every day I arrive at the mall to the sound of Christmas music and the bustle of busy shoppers.  I join the impossible quest to find a parking space and assist customers in finding that perfect gift they're looking for.

I've finished most of my own Christmas shopping now.  What I haven't done in a long time is shop for myself!  I have a few holiday parties and get-togethers coming up, but I haven't got a thing to wear.  I'm looking into my closet and not getting any inspiration.

So I got inspired!  Here's a few festive outfits I'm liking this season.

Billabong NYC

So sorry for the super long hiatus!  My last blog post from October 1st marked the first day of my new job at Billabong.  Since then I've totally thrown myself head-first into my work and I haven't really had time for much else.  

I've been on such a high from making new friends and loving my job but the truth is, I've also had a few of the roughest months of my life.  I've been so down that blogging and doing a lot of the things that I love have been the last things on my mind.  I've been very slowly picking up the pieces and starting to feel like myself again.

One of the things that helped to get me moving again is the exciting news that I'm being swept off to NYC to work on social media for Billabong.  I'm going to have the amazing opportunity to visit all of Billabong's NYC locations to tweet, Instagram, and Facebook my brains out.  This is such a huge step towards the career of my dreams and I can't believe it's happened so quickly.  I'm so excited to be able to share a brand I love with the world and connect with fans around NYC.

So Long, I'm Off to Billabong

So happy to announce that I've left my job of two years as file clerk at a medical office to work at Billabong!  

Ever since my showroom internship, I was unhappy at my job and I really wanted something more.  I started actively seeking new employment, which sucked.  Anyone out there job hunting, I totally feel you.  It's frustrating, but don't ever give up.  I actually applied at Billabong all the way back in March but something finally opened up and I got the job.  Good things certainly come to those who wait.

I'm sad to leave behind my co-workers but it's definitely time for me to start something new.  Fashion is my passion, and although I'm not yet entirely sure what I want to do, I need to start working towards something.  Even if it means working from the ground up.

I'm so excited to be working in a new field and interacting with new people.  I'm even more excited to be working for a great company like Billabong.  In recent years they've really started to become more fashion forward.  Billabong isn't just for surfers and skaters, anyone can wear it.

It's a new month, a new season, and a new beginning.  I had my first day of work today and it went really great.  Can't wait to go back tomorrow!

The Blank Generation

Days later, I'm still thinking of Anna Sui's Spring 2013 collection, titled "The Blank Generation".  Every look that Anna sent down the runway was a lot to take in.  Everything was styled so perfectly, right down to the nail polish!

I wanted to give you all a closer look at the little details and styling of the collection, I love the way it all comes together!

I really can't get over the fun spirit and attitude of this collection!  The Spring 2013 girl is rad.  I don't think I can pull off blue hair, but I totally want to be her.

Anna Sui Spring 2013

I was so lucky to attend Anna Sui's Spring 2013 runway show!  I've become a really huge fan of Anna's spring collections, they're always so fun and I want to wear all of it.

Here are my favorite looks from Spring 2013~

The collection was full of Anna's usual feminine, tasteful, girly flair while featuring edgy details like fishnets, cutouts, and leather.  The edge and attitude of this collection is what I love most.  It totally speaks to my inner punk rock goddess!

The styling was phenomenal as well.  The models sported punky, colorful hairstyles and bright, anime-inspired makeup.

Attending this fashion show was like being at a rock show.  The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" was on full blast as the models stomped by.  One of the coolest things I've ever seen!

I was really happy to see this different side of Anna Sui.  I hope to see more of it in the future, and I can't wait to wear it next spring!
